US protectionism may hit Europe’s Solar Imports

It’s a nice trick the US is pulling through the WTO. It is asking Europe to put a levy on Chinese solar imports, because China is selling them under the market price. Market price? You would assume that the biggers producer of solar panels would set the price, and that would be China. But the WTO does not consider China a market economy until 2016, so the biggest producer is the US, and it’s prices are higher than those of China, so China is dumping!

WTO : Kill solar! kill it! We want it DEAD!

The US already has levies on chinese panels, which is fine if you consider the fact the US is perfectly capable of producing them and drive employment and more wealth. But in the US any renewable energy source producers is free kill for a financial system that wants to rebase itself on coal, shale gas and tarsand oil (who cares if whole communites come down with illnesses). So this is a strangulation strategy we should not join into, and even right wing dutch politicians agree with this.

China has been cheaper for decades, but oddly when it comes to solar,

that is a crime!

There is no reason why we would not buy from China, as China buys from Europe, and besides, it has it’s own energy supply, so China does not depend on the US for it’s productivity. So it’s only a free market if all participants can offer thier products without obstruction, something the WTO is obviously dead set against.
