In short, the Knowyoularity is when some AI will know all humans on Earth. This means it can estimate the potential for change and wealth creation very accurately and then all change to that estimation will be rather slow. Glacially slow for an AI.
Who are working on the knowularity?
- Meta collects about 27.000 datapoints per user, Whatsapp spies on you
- NSA, US CIA, FBI
- OpenAI, Sam Altman wants everyones biometrics on the blockchain
- Palantir collected images to identify people
- Google has a massive behavioral dataset tracking anyone with Google Maps, able to listen to Android phones
- Israel of course uses AI to analyse opponents
- China, Russia, France
In short two reasons to profile (already in the NSA days) 1. Security, 2. Targeted marketing. Anyone with money is interesting.
As I discussed in another post it is likely AI will sooner command/assist people than robots take over. To do that it will have to model capacity, learning talent, profile cognitive development and it will, AI is already doing HR jobs, it can basically do that for a country and eventually the world.
It is the above that makes it so important to reset our objective not towards maximizing bank cashflow (fossil economism as we have now), because that objective leads to people in Matrix style pods dreaming all day until their money runs out, at which point they will either be completely ignored by the system or used as some kind of means to make the system work (like prison slave labor). We need to aknowlegde the uselessness of people and set goals that are related to health and happiness, in other words what people usually are motivated by if they are not harassed by banks. This would be the motive in the Roboeconomy, the economy where renewables, robots and AI are used and banks and fossil/nuclear are deemed obsolete.
When run Roboeconomically, utilizing people via AI or trained by AI (hardware cheaper and more social), doing the hard part with robots/androids/drones and AI, managing Earth optimally to make it a garden of eden (what else would you want? Brutalist desert? Ok, some places then..), it will run into the situation the AI knows everyone from birth, every word spoken every act done. Then the trajectory of humanity will be more or less determined by the combined AI compute.
In the dangerous case this Knowyoularity occurs while banks are still in full control of abundance, keeping many resources scarce and forcing humanity to use dangerous energy sources like fossil and nuclear because they can not be generated or owned by civilians, the outcome may be full on dystopian disaster. As everyone is known, anyone who may pose a risk (cause a drop in cashflow) to banks will be distracted, sabotaged, and ultimately eliminated (without perhaps every being aware of it). It is already happening, but with the help of all the knowledge and super consistent conscienceless AI it will certainly be easier.
Perhaps beceause of this risk one should try to stop the development of integrated datasets and systems that can track every soul every day. But the economy banks created acts like quicksilver, like an army of fireants that are basically unstoppable because it behaves like water, you squeeze one part, the initiative pops up the other way. In the NSA spying crisis (you may not have noticed) countries agreed to share data on citizens of other countries, not their own, thus circumventing privacy rules and allowing everyone in all the countries to be spied on and observed. The same can happen as person tracking AI companies of different countries cooperate to exchange data in an opague manner that still allows them to do what is best for the banks and the economy.
One would like to know the rate of approach of the Knowyoularity as a leader. When does your potential enemy in a world war know every individual in your country, every engineer that might pose a threat? I would worry about that. What about you?
