Na het nieuws van tegenvallende prestaties van PV fabrikanten op de beurs in NYSE gaat de aanval van banken op de solar industrie gestaag door. Reuters meldt dat Germany’s Solar Millennium AG heeft besloten over te schakelen op PV in plaats van CSP (concentrated solar thermal power) voor haar projecten in de VS, Dit heeft als ‘voordeel’ dat bank krediet gebruikt kan worden in plaats van een garantie van het DOE. Afgezien van het feit dat dit een klap toebrengt aan de goedkoopste techniek, CSP, en zeer veel emissies zal veroorzaken (aangezien PV met kolenstroom gefabriceerd wordt) is het een gift aan de banken die tot nu toe alleen uit zijn geweest op het minimaliseren van investeringen in duurzaamheid, met uitzondering van centrale wind energie en het kolen intensieve PV. CSP en decentrale wind energie zijn de goedkoopste opties, maar dat is niet duidelijk te maken als de kolen die voor de productie van de zonnepanelen gebruikt worden verkocht wordt door leden van hetzelfde banksysteem. Rothshild is een van de grote en wereld dominantie nastrevende kolenmijnen eigenaren. In plaats van een voordeel zien we hier een bedreiging van technologie en ontwikkeling, en een toename van de vervuiling, zelfs in het kader van duurzame energie bronnen, omdat we leven in een olie(carbon)/krediet systeem.
A discussion is raised over an australian Kurnell desalination plant. The publicly owned plant is run on wind power, so it is 100% green. Now it is to be sold and leased back to get several billions up front. This is an example of clean wealth. Because the plant is green, it provides water that could be used for growing crops, it’s maintenance and repairs payed from the proceeds. This is not the case, the water replaces water from a dam catchment. One may wonder the use of which of these two is greener. But the point is that here you have a green, clean operation generating revenue that can be sold for today’s cash, with which another plant could be build, with which many wind turbines could be build, which all would generate productivity, wealth without burdening the eco system. Sadly the proposal is to build infrastructure, still is a carbon intensive process. So you do see the oil/banking relation that tries to free up cash up front to make oil consumption possible and the intermediaries rich. But it is only a matter of time before the oil used to build the roads comes from biocrops grown on fields irrigated by wind power desalinated water…People will keep complaining about who makes the most and what the price will be, but at least it won’t mean our planet is being destroyed.
Reverse Osmosis may not be the least capital intensive way to desalinate.
Ducted wind turbines werken beter omdat ze niet alleen van de directe wind druk gebruik maken, maar ook van de zuigende werking van de lucht die om de windtunnel stroomt. Zo worden hogere efficienties gebruikt, hogere windsnelheiden, waarbij soms kleinere diameter turbines kunnen worden gebruikt (bij hawt). Een goed voorbeeld hiervan is de Flowdesign turbine, maar de Donqi. Pyrosolar heeft een vertikale turbine in ontwikkeling, hier een paar foto’s van de website. Het lijkt of deze turbine zeer goed presteert. Het 5 kW model heeft een zeer acceptabel formaat.
Lyndon Larouche is a well know thinker and political commentator. He is like a grandfather espousing hard truths about our geopolitical realities, our economics and oil dependence etc. These type of authoritarian figures need to be treated with caution as they usually cater to the older reading and philosophophical mind. Using terms as ‘energy flux density’ (really), they can become simple charlatans directing older people in awe of concepts like ‘The Universe’. The older technological optimist is an a lonely place, espcially when he/she is addicted to Larouche. Starting with his idea creativity is the basis of science you can only get lost.
He has a channel called Rouchepac where he makes sure he keeps paturing his audience with wide ranging opinions on all aspects of the knowable world. Now his views on life and the world are aligned with another big block in the US, the end time believers. This is not relevant for renewables, but below video does touch the renewable theme. It is a shocking argument for MAMMALS to give up our planet and hand it back to the REPTILES because our cold blooded cohabitators (they are not our ancestors) are MORE EFFICIENT in sustaining themselves. Let’s look at his ideas..
Thruth is that mammal and reptile ancestors exicted before the last global warming catastrophy we know as the End Permian Extinction or Great Dying event, which occurred about 250 million years ago. Then CO2 and other gasses emitted from vulcano’s triggered runaway warming, dying of the oceans and extinction of 85% of all life due to the H2S and menthane gasses emitted from the swamp like seas. 4 Million years later life seemed to recover and oxygen leveles where brought back to a level where animals could become active. Because it was warm but oxygen was scarce the cold blooded animals (reptiles) grew big first and dominated. Size is an aspect of a species that can change much faster than other evolutionary species is it is managed by a different mechanism, in fact in Holland for instance new generations are on average several centimeters longer than the previous ones. The evolutionary story continues with the demise of the reptiles, the dinosaurs, possibly because of a cold spell (which also killed lots of life in the oceans), after which mammals where the first to recover in a wel oxygenated world.
Now Larouche makes a video that tells children that reptiles where MORE EFFICIENT, but that is nonsense, why? Because evolution dictates that whatever species exists is viable in the environment, even in the range of variation of an environment. So efficiency is a meaningless term when one considers an organism. If it lives, it is adequately adapted. Another mistake in the video is the clear design suggestion, namely that mammals have somehow forced plants to exist in order to have their inefficient existence. Last but not least it is incredibly cruel to make children wish they where another species, or make them view plants as pararsites created for their wastefull existence.
The only function of this video is to make children believe that the wasteland they will be faced with when they grow older due to the egoistic use of fossil fuels by the older generation (Larouche audience) is better than the green planet the older generation enjoyed. And as a result they may accept the result of that egotism, their extinction.
Recently I got a counter of a pensioner that said climate change was not the problem, the cooling of the earths core was! Sanity and well informedness or responsibility is an assumption we need to abandon when proposing public policy, the best way to slove problems like the climate problem may be to simply do it with whatever force can be mustered, not to think you can motivate a wider audience to help you. Thanks to Lyndon Larouche these people are rapidly being turned into agents of mammalian extinction.
Denkend over ontzilting van zeewater vroeg ik me af waarom er geen ijs van gemaakt wordt, ijs is doorgaans zoet, en wie wel eens ijsklontjes van zout water of water met andere stoffen erin (suiker bv.) gemaakt heeft weet dat het ijs niet zo op de vervuilingen gesteld is. Kennelijk worden vreemde stoffen bij de kristalvorming uit de groeiende structuur gedrukt. Enfin, even googelen (bv. freeze desalination)..
Bij vacuum vries desalinatie wordt zeewater mbv onderdruk tot het vriespunt gekoeld. Vervolgens komt het in een kolom terecht waar het zoete ijs dat ontstaat boven komt drijven. Dat ijs wordt gesmolten en een deel wordt gebruikt om het drijvende ijs af te spoelen. In het begin zal het water dus iets zouter zijn, maar als het proces op gang is zal de top van de kolom en het spoel water zoet zijn. Met warmte wisselaars kan de koude in het proces worden geconserveerd.
Het vacuum vries desalinatie proces is al meer dan 20 jaar oud. Het is efficienter dan verdampings ontzitting (met zonnewarmte bv.) omdat het water doorgaans qua temperatuur dichter bij het vriespunt ligt dan het kookpunt. Het is een lage druk proces in tegenstelling tot het prevalente RO (reverse osmosis) process waardoor installatie kosten en onderhouds vereisten lager zijn. Er zijn verbeteingen mogelijk door methaan aan het water toe te voegen en ander koolwaterstoffen die voor kristalvorming zorgen bij lagere temperaturen (tot zelfs +12 graden celcius!). Deze stoffen worden gerecycled in het proces dus er is geen gevaar voor vervuiling. Er zijn vele manieren om de compessor voor de vacuum koeling aan te drijven (men denke bijvoorbeeld aan gold energie). Er zijn geen practische bezwaren tegen deze techniek die bij meerdere onderzoeken economisch rendabel is gebleken. Opschalen is geen probleem. Misschien het enige gebrek van deze techniek, net als van vele anderen waar we niets over horen, is dat het zonder hulp van fossiele brandstoffen en met lage kosten en investeringen duurzaam kan worden geimplementeerd.
"Freeze desalination of sea water, using direct contact freezing and melting heat transfer, has long been known to be very energy efficient. When saline water freezes, the salts dissolved in the water are excluded from the ice that is formed. The ice is then separated from the solution and remelted to get fresh water. As the operating temperature of this type of process is at or below the freezing temperature of water, scaling and corrosion are greatly reduced. This effectively removes these drawbacks that exist in other conventional methods. Scaling results from the build-up of precipitates due to calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, sulphate, sodium and chlorine ions in the water. The hard scale formed on the inside of the pipes requires costly maintenance practices to remove. Corrosion of steel pipes in contact with salt water is also increased with temperature. Lower temperatures permit plastics and protective coatings on the steel pipes to prevent corrosive attack. Thermodynamic efficiency can also be increased due to the lack of heat exchangers required in heat-driven desalination processes." (bron)
Zou Exxon onderstaand plaatje maken als er voldoende reserves waren? Snapt u waarom dit blog van mening is dat de economische crisis een schepping is van het bankwezen om zijn rol van olie distributeur zo lang mogelijk te mogen blijven vervullen, namelijk door geld uit omloop te halen waar mensen anders benzine of olie gebaseerde producten mee zouden kopen? Snapt u waarom de dit blog van mening is dat een nieuwe op duurzame energie gebaseerde kredietsoort en banksysteem dit maatschappelijk wurgproces kan neutraliseren en dat de regeringen zo snel mogelijk controle moeten proberen te krijgen over de overgebleven reserves om ze aan te wenden om duurzame energie bronnen te bouwen (en niet primair efficientie te bevorderen). Vergeet niet dat Geld = Olie. We leven in een olie/krediet gebaseerde wereld economie. Dus als een olieboer zegt dat we moeten ‘investeren’ in olie bedoelt hij/zij dat we OLIE nodig hebben om OLIE te winnen. Dit zien we bij tar sands bijvoorbeeld omdat het aantal vaten dat verbruikt wordt om een vat te kunnen verkopen gradueel stijgt.

De zijn met zijn allen aan het scubadiven, en onze duik instructeur vertelt ons niet wanneer en hoe we boven moeten komen. Dat weet hij niet.
So Syngenta thought it would be a good idea to create a patented corn that would self decompose it’s starch. We do that when we digest starch using an enzyme called amylase that can be found in our saliva. The starch is turned into glucose which we can easily absorb. If one makes bioethanol the sugars feed bacteria that produce the alcohol. This is all very nice and smart, but there seems no awareness about what happens to GM varieties. They mix, spread, contamintate.
Even a small amount of the amylase corn – one kernel out of 10,000 – could damage food products, according to data supplied to the North American Millers’ Association by Syngenta. The organisation, like most food industry groups, has opposed the corn, noting failures to prevent cross-contamination from earlier GM breeds.
Syngenta says : "Look! We are fucking up your crop!"
So it will be only a matter of time before all corn is part amylase corn. This has grave implications for other uses of corn, uses where the starch is actually needed or usefull. It is just idiotic how GM companies keep churing out solutions that create problems, but hey, that’s economics, even if it renders one of the staple crops useless..
Het blijkt dat recente aardbevingen barsten in het fundament van de centrale hebben gemaakt waardoor radiactive stoom ontstnapt. Bovendien is gebleken dat de centrale niet door de tsunami maar door de aardbeving die deze veroozaakte al gevaarlijk was geworden. Dat terwijl de centrale veilig werd geacht voor krachtiger aardbevingen. Dit maakt dat alle centrales in japan een onbekend risico vormen.
Dit moeten we in Nederland Voorkomen. Vertel de Haarense wethouder Eric van den Dungen en zijn collage in Boxtel om alles te doen om de proefboringen te voorkomen. Er is binnekort een hoorzitting over de macht van de gemeente om boren al dan niet goed te keuren in de Tweede Kamer. Het Britse Bedrijf Cuadrilla kan gewoon terug naar Engeland, zeker wanneer ons drinkwater in gevaar wordt gebracht. De rampzalige gevolgen voor drinkwater zijn extreem evident, en het is beter schade te voorkomen dan naderhand een schadevergoeding te eisen (als je die al krijgt) betaald uit de winst gemaakt ten koste van ons drinkwater. Ondertussen is er een verdeel en heers offensief bezig om verantwoordlijkheden voor water kwaliteit bij de lagere overheden neer te leggen, een beetje net als de beslissing om GM gewassen te verbouwen nu op land niveau kan worden beslist.
‘Het wetsvoorstel is volgens de Vewin tevens in strijd met nationale en EU wetgeving. ‘Op Europees niveau stelt de Kaderrichtlijn Water (KRW), dat het huidige beschermingsniveau gehandhaafd moet worden. Het wetsvoorstel verlaagt juist de beschermingsdrempels. Tevens is in Nederland van oudsher de waterkwaliteit verankerd in diverse wetten, waaronder de Grondwaterwet en de Wet verontreiniging oppervlaktewateren. In deze wetten komt wel tot uitdrukking, dat vergunningen gekoppeld moeten worden aan waterplannen.'(bron)
Aardbevingen?
In Engeland hebben zich onlangs twee aardbevingen, van respectievelijk 2,3 en 1,5 op de schaal van Richter, voorgedaan na boringen van Cuadrilla. Maar denk niet dat daar het gevaar ligt. Het ligt in de vergiftiging van het grondwater voor een beetje gas terwijl de Europese gas transitie en overschakelijk naar russisch gas in volle gang is! Zelfs als je je niet over het klimaat of de gezondheid druk maakt is dit schade die we onszelf niet hoeven aan te doen.
