And of course the Julie Bass story, it ended well. As the man is lamenting the financial shortages he is arguing against someone using her own front yard to grow her own food. Tee US is on a rampage due to the lobby from big agriculture. You may know that there is a bill in the works in the US that will outlaw organic farming.
Now (as you can see on Reuters above) we have lobbyist that are allowed to ague for UNAPROVED GM crops being used in food products. Why? Because the practice of having only scientifically reseached GM food made it impossible to use the crops. They are not safe and the trouble with GM is growing on a daily basis : Super weeds are resistant, they are causein infertility and birth defects. They contaminate local varieties that fall into the hands of Monsanto. Now there is news that one of the herbicides used is killing trees. We need to start responding.
Chemical companies make money from oil inputs, thus generating revenues for oil companies. We know these companies do not care about life on earth, because they have known of the dangers of oil and coal and gas since the 50’s. So we need to be insightfull by telling chemical companies to stop making poisons just because it keeps the job of a couple of hundred (probably less than healthy) workers, and instead try to keep things alive and demand people use natural enemies of plants and weeds to get rid of them.
"A recently approved herbicide called Imprelis, widely used by landscapers because it was thought to be environmentally friendly, has emerged as the leading suspect in the deaths of thousands of Norway spruces, eastern white pines and other trees on lawns and golf courses across the country."
A simple mantra should be "To sustain life we need life". Doing it in the most natural way means maximal utilization of the sun, for heating, cooling electricity, desalination and growing crops.
