China developed a method to use concetrated solar power to purify silicon to solar grade silicon. This method is 10 times more energy efficient as it uses the suns heat to melt silicon. It is also less environmentally polluting because the process makes the use of hazardous chemicals and precautions to make their use safe unnecessary. The cost of feedstock for solar panels can thus be reduced, as can the carbon footprint. Using CSP for purifying silicon can work well in desert areas and help ‘greening the desert’, hopefully soon.

GMO gewassen zijn gemodificeerd zodat ze zelf pesticiden maken. Deze planten zijn dus giftig. Alleen als je ze heel lang kookt bij hoge temperaturen is het gif afgebroken. Deze gewassen (soya, mais e.d.) zijn veevoeder en zitten in veel producten. Daarmee eten de mensen waar deze producten verkocht worden ongemerkt gifstoffen die in de bloedbaan te traceren zijn. De gifstoffen tasten de organen aan met alle gevolgen van dien. In Europa gaan lidstaten nu zelf bepalen of ze GMO gewassen gaan toestaan. Dat is een zwakke strategie, want contaminatie is onvermijdelijk. Uiteindelijk zullen alle gewassen GMO genen bevatten en dus schadelijk zijn, lang nadat Monsanto en de green revolution geeindigd is in een enorme catastrofe, de post petro productie kloof..Want zoals de CEO van Monsanto al in 1998 stelde “De commerciele industriele technologieen die vandaag worden gebruikt om de wereld te voeden… zijn niet intrinsiek duurzaam”.
Niet alleen de gewas zelf is giftig, maar er worden ook enorme hoeveelheden gif gebruikt waar het door genetische manipulatie tegen kan (roundup readyness). Verassing: dat is nu ook bij onkruid het geval. De vraag rijst "Wie verdelgen we met Roundup als het niet het onkruid is?". vorig jaar waren 11 mln acre met resistent onkruid besmet, in de gebieden buiten de nu uitgedroogde zone.

In India neemt men met meer dan 10.000 BT Cotton gerelateerde zelfmoorden sinds 2005 intussen minder soepel op. Deze moeten dan van hun gemeenschap zelfmoord plegen. Recent rezen de emoties uit de pan omdat de zaden niet werden aangevoerd.

Interessant aspect is dat er valse zaden opduiken. Dit is het gevolg van Monsanto’s strategie om zaden in ‘geld’ te veranderen, ‘geld’ dat de boeren jaarlijks moeten lenen. Dat ‘geld’ kan worden vervalst en dit voegt weer een laag complexiteit toe aan het slechte idee, de intensieve landbouw.

Demo opstelling
Dit apparaat geeft ons een opstelling om de software te maken die de poisitie van het paneel laat afhangen van het tijdstip. De manier van gebruik van de motor en de manier van het oppikken van de positie kan nog veranderen. Waar we nu over nadenken is hoe we de positie berekenen aan de hand van de tijd. We hebben een klok en een positie indicatie, nu gaat het om het verband. De positie indicatie is min of meer evenredig aan de hoek zoals we eerder hebben gezien. We hebben een oplossing nodig, hier is een eerste pogiing.
De aanpak is als volgt: De hoek die de spiegel doorloopt zal worden doorlopen gedurende een bepaald aantal uren van de dag, bv. van 9 uur ‘s ochtends tot 15 uur ‘s middags. De rest van de tijd staat het paneel in de begin stand.
Dit bekekend dat gedurende die periode van bv. 6 uur de positie wordt aangepast. 6 uur is 360 minuten. Er zijn 300 posities, dus dat is een verandering van de positie variabele elke 1.2 minuten. Om het beter te laten werken zeggen we 5 positie stappen elke 6 minuten.
De positie berekeing is als volgt :
1 .Is de tijd buiten de werkperiode (9 – 15), positie 0 ( oostelijk)
2. Tijd in uren X 60 + minuten = totaal aantal minuten verstreken in dit etmaal. Daarvan aftrekken 60 x startuur, bv. 9 uur = 360 minuten.
3. Deel het resterend bedrag door 6 zonder rest en vermenigvuldig met 5 = resultaat
4. Positie is startpositie + resultaat
Het is nu mogelijk om de start en eindtijd te varieren waarbij de stappen die het paneel doorloopt automatisch worden herberekend. Helaas zijn de 18m2 chips zeer gevoelig, en om onduidelijke reden zijn de beide exemplaren gesneuveld. Dat wordt wachtehn op nieuwe exemplaren. Wilt u een proto board sponsoren?

Een andere thread op dit blog ging over het beschikbaar maken van zeer precieze positie data mbv een magentische rotary encoder. Deze greef 1024 posities over 360 graden. 4096 kan ook, dus 0,08 graad precies, en zeer robuust en betrouwbaar. De eerst volgende stap is om een chip, de 16f88 in C te programmeren met de juiste code. Dit is op zich al een uitdaging.

Voor het eerst lijkt het te dagen waar het om gaat, niet om het geld, maar om de stoffen die met geld worden verhandeld. Je bouwt geen infrastructuur met een berg dollars, maar met benzine, diesel en olie om alles wat nodig is aan te drijven. Als regering kun je die bij de bron gaan halen.

Er zitten wel haken en ogen aan de motivaties van het trio, het zijn harde republikeinen en geen vriendjes van Al Gore. Het kan zijn dat deze mannen een voorhoede zijn voor het reserveren van brandstoffen voor de industrie, ten koste van de behoeften van de bevolking.
Oorlog 2.0
Weinig mensen zullen het beamen, maar we bevinden ons in een wereldoorlog. De vorm die deze aanneemt is echter nieuw, en daardoor zien mensen het niet zo snel. De wereldoorlog wordt uitgevochten in en tussen de financieele instituten, doordat de mensen zich consument hebben laten dopen met de belofte dat als ze maar niet teveel nadenken alles goed zal komen. Dat laatste kan niet in een wereld waarin alle bronnen aan het opdrogen zijn. Olie, water, hhour, helium, uranium, water, vis alles raakt op. Daarover wordt momenteel hoofdzakelijk gevochten door met schuld te schuiven. Betekenisloze schuld die consumenten niet snappen.
De financieele instituten laten het schulden monster los op alle zwakke plekken op aarde, en maken winst door zich tegen de ondergang te verzekeren. Europese banken hebben verzekeringen tegen een grieks faillisement die echter uitbetaald moeten worden door amerikaanse banken. Elk land probeert zich uit dit netwerk van afhankelijkheden te onttrekken als een kat die uit een boom probeert te klimmen. De instituties zijn als een theekransje van zelfmoord jihadisten met elkaars touwtjes in handen.
De tachtig jarige oorlog stopte toen de Spanjaarden door hun goud heen waren. De Britten waren volledig afhankelijk van de Rothshilds in de Napoleontische oorlog. Niets gebeurt zonder invloed van de financiele sector.
Nu worden resources (olie, gas, koper, e.d. nog via dit spel verdeeld, door JP Morgan Chase voornamelijk). De markt die JPM beheert, die zich over elke essentieel goed uitstrekt, tot aan foodstamps (waar een goed deel van de amerikanen van leeft) toe, is niet vrijwillig maar gewongen door schuld en omkoperij. De gevolgen zijn zeer schadelijk, want door deze orde gaat alles gewoon door, terwijl op het klimaat probleem gereageerd moet worden.
We komen langzaam tot het moment waar mensen die wel serieus zijn, die wel nadenken over wat goed is voor het land, en niet gretig doorgaan met het verwennen en uitmelken van de consument, de leiding overnemen. Dat zal zijn als deze mensen invloed krijgen in de regeringen. Dat zal zijn als corporaties gedwongen worden zich in een bepaald land te vestigen, zonder de rechten die ze nu ontlenen aan een oude privacy wet ter bescherming van slaven.
De oorlog is aan de gang maar de vraag is hoe lang dit nog via kantoren en mannen in pakken zal lopen. We zien dat Duitsland niet akkoord gaat met de beslissing van Moody’s dat Griekenland offline moet (failliet, uitverkocht en niet in staat energie te kopen). Dat is tegen de regels van het spel en laat zien dat Europa zichzelf in reele termen erkent : Griekenland is arm, maar dat betekent niet dat het zich te grabbel hoeft te gooien.
Lybie kan de volgende scheur zijn. Europa en de VS hebben de olie nodig. Lybie heeft de olie ooit willen weggeven, maar nu denkt het daar anders over. Khadaffi is extreem opgelicht door Goldman Sachs. Lybie vertrouwt nette mensen met contracten niet langer en belooft de strijd naar Europa te brengen. Dat is helaas extreem eenvoudig.
Oorlog 2.0 betekent dat hulpbronnen moeten worden gereserveerd voor de industrie. Deze hebben de sterkste lobby en er is geen oorlog geweest waar de industrie niet goed aan verdiend heeft. Basf en IBM zijn beide rijk geworden door Hitler. In een openlijke oorlog is het makkelijk mensen aan het werk te zetten en te ransoeneren. Nu gaat het anders. De strategische belangen bepalen dat een land een aantal zaken op orde moet hebben. Deze moeten geregeld zijn ongeacht wat de financieele wereld denkt of doet. Het is zelfs maar de vraag of men de financieele wereld op zijn hand heeft, want deze draaien kennelijk de hand niet om om hele landen via hun fraude in de uitverkoop te gooien, voorbeeld Griekenland.
De honger van de industrie is groot. Fabrieken en andere productie activiteiten vergen 20 maal zoveel energie als de bevolking (voor elke burger wordt per dag 20 keer zoveel energie in de industrie gebruikt als de burger zelf gebruikt) . Dat gaat dus pijn doen, aangezien het model in de financieele sector geen rekening houdt met vraag. De burgers hebben nauwelijks een lobby, de politiek houdt zich bezig met kleinburgerlijke onzin. Dat worden bergen mat kaplaarzen voor mensen die deze niet kunnen betalen. Zo is het altijd gegaan, sinds de industriele revolutie.
De rechts mannen die hierboven een quotum van de olie voor hun activiteiten willen reserveren zijn mischien gemotiveerd door een eerlijke wens om de olie afhankelijkheid te verminderen, maar het rechtse kamp kenmerkt zich doordat zij niet in staat zijn logisch te redeneren en nooit zeggen wat ze werkelijk willen. Het kan beter gezien worden als een eerste zet die nodig is om tot het eind door te gaan met het omzetten van olie in stuff ongeacht de maatschappelijke problemen die worden veroorzaakt.

Previously they did build solar plants but shut them down after a while, now it’s pulling out all the stops for solar. 130 million is a pittance though for what they aim to achieve.

Imagine the advantage the country has, it can power it’s own silicon and panel facturies using the sun and thus reduce the production cost to next to nothing compared with plants in zones with less sun.
The question is though whether solar panels will prove the primary product. A little iron and heat combined can turn CO2 into CH4, methane. For this the infrastructure is already in place. So is one for heavier hydrocarbons that can be made from the methane. Like with the endles use of oil to get more oil, once one has begun to use solar one can get other materials and fuels based on more solar.
If only someone came up with a comprehensive and sane way to save our oceans, something equally feasible with the right approach and using solar energy, then we would still have a food supply problem, but there would be a more positive outlook ahead. Suadi is the place to watch, let’s hope they go CSP in a major way, PV may be cheaper, but they know the price it really has, that of fossil fuel emissions.

Australia
Australia is like Iceland, it has an energy wealth in it’s territory. It is easy to defend, so it can give the finger to international financial interests. It has to respect China, and as China is planning to take the coal rather than pay for it in the near future, it is wise to move to renewables quickly. It can, it’s a damn sunny place and has all the stuff one needs to pave it with solar power plants. So here goes..

Opposed because of campaigns by the coal companies obviously. Of course this hits airlines and mining companies, as well as banks. All financials are oil dependend, so predictably they gave a threatening signal by dropping. Still Australia has a lot to make good on..

Big fucking deal. the untold billions of TerraWatt the sun will beam down to that continent will largely remain untapped while people are kept struggling for water and energy. Banks are ready to create problems :

Well, maybe the banks will force them to shut down quickly, but that doesn’t make any sense, because bank fees and revenues depend on energy being available cheaply. How much profit can a bank skim if society grinds to a halt? Of course the government is already being preped to go into debt because the fals reluctance of the banks:
"The government plans to set up loan guarantees for electricity generators, to help the industry refinance loans of between A$9 billion and A$10 billion over the next five years."
Banks can stuff themselves with the money. The only good thing out of that is that the government will own the generators, so this is a nationalization scheme. We should try that in Europe.
We are seeing discussions on finances, tomorrow an emergency meeting of the EU finance ministers, a new calamity. They will be more frequent as Europe tries to do the impossible, whichis exit US dominated finance without exiting the energy matrix. Money is oil. Credit is oil. Debt is used flasely on the one end to justify austerity, unjustly because debt that can not be repayed is inherent to the oil/credit system. On the other hand, the only way to distibute oil and not brake the spell is to issue more debt. It convieniently creates more excuses to cut, because the money will disappear into the hands of the energy companies, and they don’t spend it (or it would come back again you see?). The US is on strategic reserves to augment the waning Suadi supplies (supposedly as a threat). These wells are not magical lanterns, no rubbing will make them regenerate.
So when will the energy reality really strike our consciousness? Only if the debt charade is no longer able to mask it, and that is when it starts looping out of the line of public focus. We can understand hunger in Ethiopia, it’s not important to us. Nobody tells us there is a huge effort to increase agriculture in Ethiopia based on aquifer water. We can have austerity and riots in Greece, Spain, they are lazy countries now clamouring for something they don’t deserve? That narrative will start failing if we start seeing dire situations in the US. Hard to understand. Like my mother saying "Well if farmers have to kill catle because the weather is so wierd and the graas didn’t grow, maybe they should be buying it somehwere else..". If the gas is too expensive or unavailabley you will have to rely on local food.
He might be smart, who knows..
The side that likes to enjoy the spoils of fossil fuel burning is at the same time dismissive about human extinction. It happened before they say, life will recuperate. For someone with a mind to do what he damn well pleases there are no obstacles: Something will provide, and if not we take what we need. That mentality doesn’t work anymore, we reached the edges of Easter island. The problem has become those that choose to see no problems.
If financial hell breakes loose, whose side do you choose? I guess it’s best to choose the weakest side. That sounds strange but better be far from the battle is my philosphy. Those invested in the system can’t run other than to the mothership, the US. Let them. Let the money run out. It’s all paper without a bite. I don’t think at least. It’s all spend oil, meaningles debt, a control system.
That is to my knowledge the only reason why these financial troubles drag on, and a global default is not called, force majeure and the derivatives are gone: Noone would know who controls what, all would have to be redistributed and fought over again. It would start a world wide conflict like a brawl after the soccer match. Ironically quite significantly restricted by the lack of fuel and weapons already depleted in the present wars. Food would be hoarded and not traded, and all would lock down asap to deal with the energy calamity resulting from strategic stockpiling.
Right now we seem to be in a phase of mutual self sacrifice, gradual weakening of sides, standing down. and wasting in order to disable any strong action when people might want to. It is eery to observe how the deckchairs are rearranged as the deck is tilting. When will the chairs start rearranging themselves?
